Rackheath House

With the Mississippi River Valley as a backdrop, the carefully maintained grounds surrounding Rackheath House offer a variety of classic garden wedding venues. Whether beneath the shade of a pair of century-old silver maple trees, among the blooms of an English country garden, or on the charming covered patio, this estate is the perfect spot, regardless of the season, for a gorgeous, outdoor wedding fête.

Substitute a tiled floor aisle flanked by wooden pews for a garden path lined with flowers and guests seated under the ceiling of a sparkling blue sky. The “reception immediately following” is only a grassy stroll away on the other side of the flowering cottage rose.

The Overlook

Vows and “wows”. The Overlook (from which the farm got it’s name) is a spot unparalleled by any other in the Midwest. This ‘perch’, sitting up above the Mississippi, is one of the highest points along the entire river, from Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico. With the quaint town of Clarksville, farmland, and the rolling hills of the river valley unfolding below, this majestic spot is ideal for the exchange of wedding vows. Your wedding guests will probably want to linger up here, so cocktails following the ceremony at The Overlook may be necessary!

Avalon

The area sweeping up to the point is the perfect retreat following a ceremony overlooking the Mississippi. Bordered on one side by a row of cedar trees and on the other by a river view, the Avalon reception is grounded by a massive oak tree at one end, and extends up a long uninterrupted lawn to The Overlook. Globe lights strung above seated guests illuminate a surprisingly intimate space at nightfall. On midsummer evenings, fireflies provide additional ambient lighting.

Cedarcrest Manor

Enjoy the relaxing and intimate space created by Cedarcrest’s shade, gardens, pool, and porches. This mid-19th century, federal style manor house is a peaceful setting ideally situated for an elegant affair. The venue includes a canopied lawn, large second-story veranda, pool, and adjacent, sculpted rose garden with fountain, not to mention the beautifully restored, and exquisitely appointed, two-story inn.

The Courtyard

Opened in May of 2010, this outdoor venue has quickly grown in popularity. Located directly behind The Station Restaurant, this beautifully designed patio includes an outdoor kitchen with wood-burning oven, 12-foot grill, extensive bar seating, large fire pit, and many interesting architectural features. Dripping in wisteria in late spring and warmed by the bonfire in fall and winter, The Courtyard reflects the beauty of the changing seasons. Beyond this gathering space lies 6 regulation-sized horseshoe courts and the newly installed “Lawn”.

Custom-made, harvest tables, running down the middle of the courtyard, underneath the glow of lights strung overhead, give this space a very “Napa” feel. Add candlelight, platters of roasted, grilled, and smoked specialties, wine, music, and the most important people in your life -- and you’ve created an evening no one will ever forget.

The Lawn

Wide and wonderful. This recently installed event space, at the base of the Overlook, was designed to accommodate a large affair, to be flexible enough to include a guest list of up to 500, and to provide supplemental wedding activities and entertainment (think croquet, badminton, outdoor movie, square dancing, pony rides - you name it!). The Lawn is bordered by the horseshoe courts, purveying flower garden, and The Courtyard. A winding path and footbridge connect The Lawn to the Overlook, situated directly above.
