We were looking for a quiet and quaint space for a group of girls to get together for girl time! Thanks to my friend Kris, we drove a quick sixty minutes north of St. Louis to find Overlook Farms, a family owned farm with two historic inns and a unique restaurant that serves dishes made with food from local farms.

Features: Grain, Elevated: Cornmeal goes from humble to high-end
The average home cook tends to use a 4-pound bag of cornmeal only for baking corn bread (or is everyone buying Jiffy now?) or for dusting a pizza stone to lend density and texture to the crust (and to make peeling it off that much easier). But there’s much more to love. Cornmeal is what you need for an occasional grits breakfast, a hearty plate of rustic, peasant-inspired polenta or nsima, a worka…
Chef Talk: Big Ideas, Bold Flavors: Grandinetti Is Back
Tim Grandinetti’s back, and he’s brought his intense passion and professionalism with him. The buds bursting on the trees in your backyard might signal winter’s end to you, but chefs take a cue that spring has sprung from the first round of edibles – fiddleheads, nettles, sorrel, wild garlic, onions and other fresh greens and shoots – erupting through the ground this time of year. “There’s no better introduction to spring,” said Kevin Nashan of the fiddlehead ferns and stinging nettl…
